‘I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape – the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn’t show’ – Andrew Wyeth.
Magical, festive, beautiful, harsh, cruel and bleak, this Arts Society lecture by Stella Grace Lyons will explore the variety of interpretations of the winter season through the works of Bruegel, Caspar David Friedrich, Monet, and Andrew Wyeth.
Where & When: Arts Society Talks are held at the Sacred Heart Church Hall, Edge Hill, London SW19 4LU and on Zoom, on the second Wednesday of each month (except July and August) starting at 8pm. Coffee is served from 7.30pm onwards when members have a chance to meet one another. Zoom viewers may join at 7.45pm.
