Head to Wimbledon Village for a whole host of fun-filled events to get you into the festive spirit! Check out our top ten picks, with the not-to-be-missed family fun day Christmas in the Village in the number one spot of course!

 

 

1. Christmas in the Village

 

This day of fun, food and festive shopping is packed with activities and attractions to keep the whole family entertained! Enjoy Santa’s Grotto, face painting, balloon modelling, craft and clay-modelling workshops, dance, music and storytime sessions, Santa’s horseback parade, fairground rides, a chance to meet the Fire Brigade, a Christmas market, Christmas lights switch-on, choirs, bands and more! And it’s all in a great cause – the event is held in aid of local charity Wimbledon Guild.

2. The Art of Wreath Making

The Art of Wreath-Making Workshop image

 

Join garden designer & florist Emily Boswell for this special festive workshop where you can enjoy good company and unleash your creativity in a cosy art gallery. Step by step instructions will be given for you to create a beautiful wreath made with wildflower winter foliage, eucalyptus, mimosa and pine for you to take home afterwards. Mulled wine, mince pies and other refreshments provided.

3. Amathus Christmas Wine Fair

 

Whether you’re hosting one party after another this Christmas, or planning a quiet one with friends or family, great wine is an essential part of the festive season. During this Wine Fair weekend, the friendly Amathus team will be on hand to guide you through the perfect wine selections for your festive celebrations. You’ll sample 20-plus wines from their extensive range – from celebratory fizz through to luscious dessert wines and fine Ports.

 

Where & When: Amathus, Fri, 29 Nov – Sun, 1 Dec 2024.

  • Friday 29th November from 3pm – 7pm
  • Saturday 30th November from 12pm – 7pm

4. Christmas Pop-Up Store, with Candle and Wreath-Making Workshops

 

The Wimbledon Pop-Up at Life Kitchens showcases local brands run by incredible artisans, featuring ceramics, hair accessories, jewellery, Wimbledon prints, Christmas cards, festive decorations and delicious chocolates.  This year you can also enjoy in-store candle and wreath-making workshops. 10% of sales at the pop-up will be donated to two wonderful charities: Small Steps and Dementia UK.

 

Where & When: Life Kitchens, 3 High Street, Wimbledon Village from Friday 15th November to Monday 2nd December, with launch party on Friday 15th November from 7 – 9 pm. Opening times:

  • Monday to Saturday | 9.30 am to 7 pm
  • Sunday  | 9.30 am to 5 pm

5. Christmas Embroidery Workshop

 

Looking to learn a new skill, whilst also having fun? Head to this Sip & Sew workshop where you’ll learn the joys of embroidery over a drink or two! You’ll be supplied with all the materials required to create your Christmas embroidery, with the choice of a mistletoe, snowflake or Christmas bauble pattern and access to the bar to relax while you do it!  All you need to bring is your imagination.

 

Where & When: Dog & Fox, Saturday 7th December from 2 – 4 pm.

6. A Christmas Carol @ Southside House

 

Enjoy a brilliant theatre performance of A Christmas Carol by Dickens, adapted and performed by all-women company Shadow Road from Barnes.

 

Where & When: Southside House, Woodhayes Road, SW19 4RJ at 6 pm on Sunday 8th December.

7. Carols at the Windmill

A carol concert is an essential part of the Christmas calendar! Head to the iconic Wimbledon Windmill for this FREE annual carols sing-a-long, with hot chocolate, mulled cider and mince pies.

 

Where & When: Wimbledon Windmill, Windmill Road, Wimbledon Common, London SW19 5NR, 14th December at 4pm.

 

Tickets: It is a free event, but donations are invited. All money raised goes to the upkeep and running of the Commons.

 

 

8. Meet Santa @ Cannizaro House

 

Enjoy a festive afternoon of treats, crafts, and festive cheer, in support of Wimbledon Guild. And meet Santa of course!

 

Where & When: Hotel du Vin, Cannizaro House on Sunday 15th December from 1 – 3 pm.

9. Discovery Tasting @ Friarwood: Champagne Ruinart: The Art of Hosting

 

Sample some festive fizz at this discovery tasting with Friarwood. Part of a series of FREE in-store tastings being held in the lead up to Christmas, this event invites you to meet producer Ruinart and learn more about their exquisite wines.

 

Where & When: Friarwood Wines & Spirits, 2.30 – 6.30 pm on Saturday 21st December.

10. Wimbledon Common Christmas Run

Runthrough Wimbledon Christmas Run 2024

 

Work off some of the festive season celebrations on this Christmas Run with Runthrough. The picturesque course takes you running through the stunning grounds of Wimbledon Common to cover the 5k & 10k distances. Each kilometre is accurately marked out with sign posts and plenty of helpers are on hand to keep runners on track and provide everyone with encouragement. After you’ve completed it head into the Village and enjoy some well deserved sustenance at one of our many cafes, bars and restaurants!
