LCCI CEO Richard Burge paid a visit to Wimbledon Village recently to speak to local business owners about the economic and societal impact of The Championships on the local area. Adrian Mills, Chair of the Wimbledon Village Business Association took Richard to meet a number of the Village businesses, along with Ward Councillor Max Austin, Ulrika Hogberg, Head of Community Strategy, All England Lawn Tennis Club and Diana Sterck, CEO of The Merton Chamber of Commerce.
Wimbledon is the largest annual sporting event in terms of economic contribution to the UK and it plays a huge role in London’s economy – the influx of visitors across the fortnight brings in around £200 million for London and £74 million for Merton and Wandsworth alone.
