Tom and Emma have been enriching Wimbledon Village with their beautiful flower displays for 20 years. It is one of the few remaining independent businesses in Wimbledon Village, which not only enhances the attractive street scene of our High Street, but also increases footfall to the Village and provides a meeting place for people to catch up on local news.
However their stall, The Stand, on the High Street (opposite The Rose & Crown) is now under threat of closure, as recently Merton Council has asked them to remove the kiosk each night in accordance with their licence.
This is simply unmanageable as the kiosk is blocked in by bike racks, a telephone box, electric charging meters, the pizza van and traffic lights, and should the Council insist on enforcement the business will fail.
There is strong local support from local businesses and residents for Tom and Emma in their fight for survival and a Save Wimbledon Village Flower Stall Petition has been started. Over 500 people have already signed. To add your name please click the link.
