For the last 17 years Sarah-Jane Holden has held exhibitions in the UK representing two galleries from the Northern Territory in Australia: Tingari Arts of Central Australia and Eastern Desert Art.
In addition to hosting exhibitions, Sarah-Jane also holds a permanent collection of paintings for sale which are available to view by appointment.
Eastern Desert Art & Tingari Arts respectfully acknowledge the past and present traditional owners of the land of the Indigenous people, the traditional custodians of this land, and respect their culture and identity which has been bound up with the land and sea for generations.
Linx Macpherson of Tingari Arts of Central Australia has been working with Aboriginal artists from the Central and Western Deserts since 1999. Linx has established close relationships with a wide number of independent artists and their families and has played an important role in developing their art not only in Australia but worldwide. Many of the artists who come to Tingari Arts to paint are represented in major Australian and International art galleries.
Eastern Desert Art Gallery on MacDonald Downs features work from the artists of the Urapuntja (Utopia) region in Central Australia. The gallery showcases powerful contemporary work from established and emerging indigenous artists. The Chalmers family of MacDonald Downs, a cattle station 250km NE of Alice Springs, have had a long and close association with the Alyawarr and Anmatyerr people of this Eastern Desert region. The Chalmers have lived and worked among the indigenous people of this land since the early 1920’s.
