What happens when you mix a love for creativity, a passion for working with children, and a drive to make art more sustainable? You get Planet Art — Wimbledon’s go-to club for fun, eco-friendly arts and crafts experiences for children.

Founded by local mums Anja and Sara, Planet Art has grown from a simple idea into a thriving creative community, complete with after-school sessions, holiday camps, and now their hugely popular Planet Parties.

We sat down with Anja and Sara to find out more about what makes their clubs and parties so unique, and how they’re inspiring the next generation of eco-conscious artists — one glittery glue stick at a time…

Q: Tell us a little about yourselves and your background

Anja: We’ve both always had a passion for creativity and working with children. We love seeing how proud the children are of their creations.  We know how important it is for little ones to feel welcomed, relaxed, and excited to join in, and that’s at the heart of everything we do at Planet Art.  We also feel passionately about teaching children to recycle and reuse, and work closely with local groups and charities, Recycle More Southfields and The Scrapstore.

Q: What is Planet Art, and how did Planet Party come about?

Anja: Planet Art started as a fun way for local children to explore arts and crafts without parents having to worry about the mess at home! It’s grown into a really special community where kids can recycle, reuse, and reimagine through art.

Sara: We realised parents were also looking for creative, stress-free birthday ideas, so Planet Parties was born. It’s all the joy of Planet Art, wrapped up in a celebration!

Q: So, what makes a Planet Party special?

Sara: Every party is themed, from Unicorns and Under the Sea to Space and Bugs. We prepare two creative activities in advance, tailored to the age group, and every child gets to take home their own masterpieces.

Anja: Parents can then carry on the party their way, whether that’s music, games, or booking one of our amazing entertainers. It’s flexible but always creative.

Q: What do parents say about your parties?

Anja: The feedback has been amazing. One parent told us it was the “easiest party” they’d ever done! The children were fully engaged, the crafts were a hit, and the mess was taken care of! We’ve had so many lovely reviews from Wimbledon families. The best bit for us is hearing how proud the kids are when they show off what they’ve made.

Q: What’s your vision for Planet Art and Planet Parties?

Sara: Our vision is to keep growing Planet Art as a creative hub in Wimbledon, where parents know their children are not just entertained, but learning, exploring, and expressing themselves through craft.  We’re so proud of the brilliant team we’ve built and it’s growing all the time! That means we can now offer more parties at weekends and are expanding to new locations so even more families can experience the Planet Art magic. And we’re not stopping there… our next step is to launch our own Planet Art craft kits for children to enjoy at home. It’s another way for us to spark creativity beyond the classroom or party, so watch this space!

Q: Finally, how can parents book a Planet Party?

Sara: It’s really easy, just visit www.planet-artclub.com or email us at info@planet-artclub.com.

Anja: Parties are popular and dates fill up quickly, so we always recommend booking early to avoid disappointment!
