SUMMARY:A Brush with the Past @ Wimbledon Museum
DESCRIPTION:A Brush with the Past\, created in collaboration with Common Works Gallery\, features works by ten contemporary artists who have each drawn inspiration from a work of art relating to Wimbledon Common in the museum’s collection. \n  \nThe exhibition offers a rare opportunity to see works from the Museum’s art collection\, which are usually stored and carefully preserved due to their delicate nature and lack of display space. By pairing these works with contemporary reinterpretations\, the exhibition vividly connects past and present\, offering fresh perspectives on the timeless beauty of Wimbledon Common’s landscape. \n  \nVisitors will be encouraged to respond to the paintings themselves\, and to visit the Common afterwards to make their own sketches. \n  \nWhere & When: Wimbledon Museum\, 31st January to 30th March\, Fridays\, Saturdays and Sundays only\, from 2:30 to 5 pm. \n  \nBooking/£: No ticket required. Free entry. Please note opening hours above. \n  \nImage: ‘Whispers of Winter\, Wimbledon Common’ by Katharine Rowe

SUMMARY:Guided Walk of Wimbledon Village
DESCRIPTION:A guided walking tour led by Loona Hazarika from  Let’s Discover London. \n  \nFind out all about Wimbledon Village: it’s much more than just home to the famous lawn tennis tournament; hear stories of gun fights and duels\, stagecoaches and hangings\, old Georgian pubs and highwaymen chases. The manor of Wimbledon was owned by prominent people throughout English history\, Thomas Cromwell\, Catherine Par\, Mary I\, Cardinal Reginald Pole\, the Cecil family\, Sarah Churchill and the first Earl Spencer. And there’s weird history on the way: the man who deliberately set fire to a house with the king and queen inside and got away with it; bizarre tennis matches like the man who asked for Champagne (it helped his power\, but apparently he fell over every time he tried to turn). \n  \nWhere & When: Sunday 11th March\, meeting at Wimbledon Train Station at 11am. \nTour Details: \n\nLength: 2 miles\nDuration: 2.5 hours and is partly uphill\nEnds: For a well earned drink at The Dog and Fox Pub\, Wimbledon Village.\nMaximum tour size 12 people\n\n  \nTickets: £40pp. Under 12s accompanied by an adult are Free. \n  \nNB: Does not include entry to Wimbledon tennis \n  \nNB: Tour may be cancelled if low volume of sign ups. If so you will be given a full refund.
