It is called ‘shinrin-yoku’ in Japanese\, which means “taking in the forest atmosphere” or literally ‘forest bathing under the trees’. At this event\, join guide Nigel Grimes for a mindful and sensory exploration of the Common including some breath-work and meditation. \n  \nWhere & When: Meeting Point – Windmill Tea Rooms\, SW19 5NQ on Saturday 26th September 2026 @ 10.30 am. The event will last approximately two hours until 12.30 pm. \n  \nAdditional Details: Forest Bathing will take place outdoors and so please wear appropriate clothing and footwear and something to lie on (e.g. a yoga mat or blanket). DESCRIPTION:A chance to see the iconic Wimbledon Windmill sails in action! \n​ \nEvery 5 weeks one of the WPCC Rangers heads to the roof and releases the brake on the sails to make sure everything is still working and that nothing has seized up. Only for a short time – 30 to 45 mins max – depending on the wind (of course!). DESCRIPTION:A chance to see the iconic Wimbledon Windmill sails in action! \n​ \nEvery 5 weeks one of the WPCC Rangers heads to the roof and releases the brake on the sails to make sure everything is still working and that nothing has seized up. Only for a short time – 30 to 45 mins max – depending on the wind (of course!). DESCRIPTION:A Lecture for The Arts Society Wimbledon by Caroline Rayman \n  \nJan van Eyck’s great altarpiece at Ghent is a 15th century masterpiece full of beauty\, symbolism and mystery. It has had the most extraordinary history\, which is really an art historical thriller. The work was stolen 13 times over six centuries and finally by Adolf Hitler. Its very existence is a miracle\, with it only returning home to St Bavo’s Cathedral\, Ghent in 1945. This lecture tells the remarkable story of this altarpiece. \n  \nWhere & When: The Sacred Heart Church Hall on Wednesday 9th September at 8 pm (coffee from 7.30 pm).
