What is an invasive species? Should we be concerned, and what can we do?
This talk by Dr Mark Spencer aims to answer these questions and illustrate some of the key challenges facing invasive species management in Greater London. The talk will mainly focus upon plant species that are present here as well as those that may become all too common in the future, thanks to climate change, habitat degradation and pollution.
Dr Spencer’s talk will be followed by a short update from Wimbledon & Putney Common’s Conservation and Engagement Officer, Peter Haldane, on how invasive species are managed on the Commons.
