Next week is the Big Give Earth Raise 2026 and from 12pm (midday) 22 – 29 April, any donation to Wimbledon & Putney Commons will be doubled by Big Give, turning one act of generosity into double the difference for nature.
All donations to the Commons received during the Big Give week will go towards their new Wildlife Fund. This will help deliver hands-on habitat protection and restoration activities such as de-silting ponds and planting swales, to installing leaky dams and creating wet woodlands. Together, these actions help keep the Commons resilient and rich in wildlife.
The team is launching the new fund with a Guided Walk in the Big Give week, led by their Conservation Officer, Peter Haldane, on Thursday 23rd April at 10.30am. The walk will explore some of the Commons’ important habitats and the practical work involved in caring for them and Peter will also share their plans for future projects. The fundraising target for the week is £10,000, which will then be matched by Big Give to bring the total to an amazing £20,000. Please support if you can and help protect our fabulous green space!
